The Vehicle and the Witness (Vedantic Hymn)

The Vehicle and the Witness (Vedantic Hymn)

O Divine…
Peace… Peace… Peace…
You as my breath,
You as my thought,
Even in silence, You alone…

Within me flow
Two sacred currents —
Ida — cool and calm,
Pingala — fire and light,
In the heart’s chamber
The breath chants silently.

Sattva —
Peace, knowledge, compassion,
Rajas — desire, activity, anger, motion,
Tamas — darkness, inertia, fear, sluggishness,
All pass through,
The Witness observes.

O Divine…
Peace… Peace… Peace…
You as my breath,
You as my thought,
Even in silence, You alone…

Firm in the earth,
Soaked in water,
Ignited in fire,
Moving with the wind,
Opened to the sky —
This body shines as a lamp.

The body is only a vehicle,
Through the forest of qualities
To travel onward.
Without it, the journey cannot move,
And if stuck,
The soul and the supreme reality
Reveal their oneness.

O Divine…
Peace… Peace… Peace…
You as my breath,
You as my thought,
Even in silence, You alone…

To know who I truly am,
Even countless lifetimes are not enough…
O Divine…
Peace… Peace… Peace…
