Poem : sum total of painful moments
Poem : sum total of painful moments
Preface
This poem was born from a moment witnessed from the twelfth floor of the Mirabella Building in Toronto, Canada, on a cold and silent night.
Around midnight, the calm cityscape outside the bedroom window suddenly broke apart when an accident occurred on the road far below.
The distant sirens, flashing emergency lights, and the sight of twisted metal stirred both fear and sadness.
Sleep slipped away, and the heart felt a weight that words struggled to carry.
In that fragile moment — between darkness and hope, between shock and silence — these lines emerged, capturing the trembling stillness of the night and the quiet prayer that followed.
Poem : sum total of painful moments
Silence of midnight shattered softly,
beams of light brushed my trembling mind,
metal below lay broken and bleeding.
Beyond the window tremors awakened,
deep anguish spread across the street,
darkness thickened with rising fear.
Shadows wavered around the flashing scene,
sobs faded into the drifting wind,
eyes burned bright like sudden lightning.
Moments of sleep slipped far away,
a heavy breath settled inside my chest,
hope ascended quietly as a silent prayer.
