The Hope of Autumn

The Hope of Autumn

By the lake where daylight blooms,
Golden rays touch city rooms,
Clouds drift soft through skies of gray,
The morning star lights up the bay.

Maple leaves in crimson fall,
Breeze of chill begins to call,
Winter nears — yet hearts still sing,
Fearing not what cold may bring.

Winds hum low a song of love,
Echoed soft in skies above,
Moments pass, but dreams abide,
Flowing deep like evening tide.

Through High Park’s path of amber hue,
Footsteps trace what time once knew,
Even when the daylight dies,
Love’s faint glow in silence lies.

Each leaf that falls in fading light,
Holds a spark still warm and bright,
Though autumn fades, the heart is sure —
Spring will return once more.
