"The Lift in the Tower"

 "The Lift in the Tower"

The space of steel opens wide at every floor,

closes swiftly,

welcoming footsteps

step inside.

Voices in many tongues,

faces of every shade,

all gather within

the same square floor.

A child’s laughter,

an old man’s weary breath,

smiles of affection,

flashes of anger.

Boxes rolling,

shopping bags swaying,

moments of urgency pressing in.

Conversations point out,

silent secrets are shared,

a brief glance of desire,

a tender touch of care.

Happiness rides upward,

sorrow descends below,

dreams and burdens

move together in silence.

From dawn till late night,

the lift holds untold stories,

lives interwoven

flowing like a heartbeat through halls and rooms.

With every passing moment,

every smile, every tear,

they etch themselves

upon the silent walls of steel—

shadows of lives carried away by time.

And even when one day

its doors close for the last time,

the lift will quietly preserve

the indelible marks of memory

.
